Top 5 issues people have with software

As a software developer we believe in giving people the right tools for the particular job. Unfortunately, sometimes people either have the wrong kind of tools, use them in the wrong way or they are not set up for their own particular needs. This is why we have compiled the top 5 issues people have with software, as well as what you can do to address those issues.

Incorrect inputs

Whether it’s the wrong calculations or data edits, this can have a massive impact on your business. For example, if you have an incorrect data edit with your calendar, you could end up accidentally booking your next delivery for the 30th February!

Poor performance

If software is slow or has slow response times, this can add to how long a process takes. This can be especially frustrating for people working in call centres, as a customer may need to be put on hold while you complete a process and if they are put on hold too long this can cause them to become frustrated.

This can also happen if you use software that is complicated or requires several steps. In the worst case scenario, you may be trying to do this using an obsolete system which may require the program to be replaced or modified.

Inadequate security

It is understandable that one of the biggest concerns is the security of data, whether it is your own or that of clients and customers. There is the danger that people may have access to information that they are not supposed to, leaving your company vulnerable to hacking and leaks.

Can’t handle certain processes

This can often be an issue for businesses that grow beyond a certain capacity. For example, your business software may allow you to handle processes up to £10 million. However, it may not be able to process anything past that. In this instance you would need to change your software.

No more support by the vendor

This is one of the biggest problems when going to an “off the peg” software developer that gives you a “one size fits all” as opposed to a tailored solution. There is the danger that the program you use stops being supported by your particular vendor. You may be able to upgrade but this could result in spending more money and delays while your systems are updated.

We can help you

A customised software setup can deal with a lot of the issues that come up when working with software. Having something that can be specifically tailored to your requirements can reduce issues with inputs, security can be customised specifically to the level of authorisation you need and there will always be support available.
